I could tell that immediately, and that's not good, I'm guilty of using it's default setting too, at least when I was new to this stuff but I think it would've sounded better if you click fx in styrus, and there's 4 delay tabs, i think it'd have been better if you shut the delay off.
Also pads are more ideal for chords, like heaven and I think above clouds 2 are close to the saw sound. There's also a pad called saw, but I don't like it.
Keep at it, the more you plug the better your ear gets, cuz when I listen to some of my old stuff, I immediately think stuff like "how the hell'd that sound good to me? or omg that clap is over powering."
Thanks for the feedback. Its Gold saw but they're isn't much difference between that and any of the other saws. I would say don't read into the title so much because I hate coming up with titles. Again thank you for the feed back :)
it's pretty:3, the tone of it, I love it, it's not a default setting on anything right? What vsti did you use for it? Not very much drums in it, but the melodies and the whole things just really pretty and chill. There's a total lack of a low end too.
If it were my song I'd actually speed it up after the intro, maybe play that 1st part again but faster, and add some real fancy break beats in it. But that's me, and that's probably not what you're going for since you didn't take it that direction. It reminds me of a megaman x song ,or something snes, but slowed down.
I was mostly using Sytrus and Nexus, and I pitched the whole song down a bit.
Yeh, there aren't really drums on it as I didn't find them fitting and I like it more this way =]. I can see what you mean by slowed down, it is 140 bpm, maybe I could speed it up a little...
edit: I can't choose of 140bpm and 160bpm, maybe I'll just leave it like this :P
edit2: oh yes, the introsynth is gold saw from sytrus with a small mastering.
The drums are really cool, almost tribal like. The melody that comes in about 18 seconds in is nice, and the one that comes in over it after it plays for 18 seconds sets it off that section.
You probably don't value my opinion very much, but shooting zeros is the only song I don't like that I've listened too. And probably don't care, but I got vanguard and massive, maybe I can make better sounds now.
I love Massive, it's brilliant, it's got some awesome sounds, but I use it more for spacey pads than for leads like the :18 sound or the :55 sound. Anyway, thank you for the review! :) I think we might be talking in more friendly terms now.
I hate it, my god, how did you not go deaf making it, the lead is way too high and too loud, and it's something that'd take most people 10 minutes to make.
Any one who can take a second of this is tonedeaf as hell.
It's like one lead synth then arp and drums goind hit, hithit, hit hithit, hit, hithithit, hit hithithit. I could give 2 years olds a snare drum and a keyboard and it'd be more tolerable. I think half the people who posted saying they liked it are trolling, if not I think you might be for even uploading it.
Oh and the synth sounds themselves suck horribly too.
It's like a parady of that gawdawful music from that one bus game in the 80s.
This answer is actually two answers, one is written by me (Cuzone) and another by Timraband. No, i'm not schizophrenic, we're really two guys sharing the same NewGrounds account.

Well, I wasn't trolling when I posted the song, thats for sure. About other people, I can't talk for them.
Now tell me, whats the point of trying to offend me with "2 yo can make better", "if anyone likes they are trolling"?
Now, have you heard that the peak of complexity is simplicity? Maybe thats why some people enjoy the song so much. Other's don't, and thats ok, as a musician I got my hits and misses.
Now, what I really don't get is why some people, like you, seem so angry about this song. Coming here with tongue-in-cheek jokes and rudeness; Really uncalled for.
Anyway, about the high and loud lead: My amps go 11, the idea was to make a real loud synth-lead, that i'm pretty sure, by now, that I've accomplished it.

Well, after reading this very rude review, I had to go to your profile to see who you are. Maybe you are Quincy Jones in disguise! Maybe you are an undiscovered genius waiting to be heard.
You aren't either of those things. You disappointed me, son. You suck. Your music has no creativity, your music has no bounce, your music sounds like you are trying to plagiarize someone. Your "most popular" song of 2010, Retro Gamer, has the most horrendous use of a brass synth I've ever heard in my life. I was very unlucky to also randomly click a tune of yours named Techno Fever, which was so generic and random, it made me wish evolution hadn't happened.
I understand your comparison of my songwriting method to a 2-year-old smashing a keyboard now that I've listened to your music, because your shit is so square, it can't make anybody dance. So, whenever anyone uses syncopation or tries to give bounce to a song, you feel like it's wrooooong! Way to play by the rules, dickwad. Try some syncopation next time.
Love the build up, sweet main melody from the beginning and the way the drums come in at 0:15 sweet and slow and groovy. Then at 0:45 when it picks up and it's a pretty danceable beat with the constant snare while keeping the slow groovey drums at a constant, I love the snare in that. Also love the noise at 1:10, that drop pretty good to keep it from being repeditive.
This would work perfect at being a game loop or something.
